# YouTube Shorts transcript

## How to get a Shorts transcript

1. Paste the Shorts URL — a watch or youtu.be link for the same id works too.
2. Press Get transcript.
3. Copy the words, or download a file.

## Same id as a watch link

youtube.com/shorts/{id}, youtube.com/watch?v={id}, and youtu.be/{id} are the same 11 characters. Paste any of them.

## A clip is a different video

If the Short is a clip of a longer video, that clip has its own id and its own captions — if any. Paste the parent watch URL only if you want the parent's track. A lot of Shorts never get captions. We read what's there. We don't transcribe the audio.
